Aquamedic Helix Max UV'sAquamedic Helix Max UV's
Water clarifier for salt- and freshwater aquariums and garden ponds. Helps eradicate bacteria and other water borne parasites and decreases the risk of fish acquiring infections in aquariums. Can eleminate single cell algaes giving crystal clear water in aquariums and ponds. Controlled water flow and the large volume of the Helix Max ensure maximum efficacy. The water is directed in a spiral path around the quartz tube resulting in more efficient use of the UV radiation than in standard units. Inlet and outlet fittings can be rotated through 360° for easy mounting in any angle.

Helix Max sterilisers are available in five sizes:

5 watt: Marine 25-125 litre aquarium @ flow of 100lph, Freshwater 50-250 litre aquarium @ flow of 200lph

9 watt: Marine 125-250 litre aquarium @ flow of 200lph, Freshwater 250-500 litre aquarium @ flow of 400lph

18 watt: Marine 250-500 litre aquarium @ flow of 500lph, Freshwater 500-1000 litre aquarium @ flow of 1000lph, Pond 18000 litre @ flow of 6000lph.

36 watt: Marine 500-1000 litre aquarium @ flow of 1000lph, Freshwater 1000-2000 litre aquarium @ flow of 2000lph, Pond 36000 litre @ flow of 12000lph.

55 watt: Marine up to 1500 litre aquarium @ flow of 1500lph, Freshwater up to 3000 litre aquarium @ flow of 3000lph, Pond up to 55000 litre @ flow of 18000lph.

5 and 9 watts for salt- and freshwater aquariums only with 2m normal cable. 18, 36 and 55 watts with 10m rubber cable and high frequency electronic ballast for aquariums and garden ponds. The electronic ballast also increases the lifetime and the efficacy of the UV lamps.

About UV SterilisersAbout UV Sterilisers
UV Sterilisers use high intensity UVC light to kill free floating pathogens and alage. One key point to note is that a UV steriliser will only kill those organisms which physically pass through it. In other words it can stop a fish catching a disease but it can't cure an ill fish.

The key to effectively killing pathogens with a UV is the dose rate. This is mainly determined by how strong the lamp is and how fast and close the water flows past it. From the user's point of view this means that the flow rate reccomendations given by the manufacturere must be followed. If these are exceeded then the pathogens will pass by the lamp too quickly to receive a fatal dose. This is also why it is vital to change the UV lamp at the reccomended intervals. The UVC output of these lamps falls rapidly with age and many are next to useless beyond 6 months.
