About BiOrbsAbout BiOrbs
BiOrb's are small acrylic aquariums supplied with a five stage filtration system.

This filtration system is the key to the ease of keeping fish in the BiOrb. The ceramic filter stones on the base of the aquarium provide a huge surface area for colonisation by filter bacteria. These bacteria break down and detoxify fish wastes very efficiently. The filtration cartridge is powered by air and sucks water in through a mechanical filter foam which traps debris and dirt. Next powerful resins chemically filter the water and remove organic pollutants. Then the aquarium water is pH stabilised and aereated before being returned via the air lift.

The ceramic filter stones are a long term filtration media and they do not need to be replaced regularly. The filter cartridge on the other hand contains chemical media which becomes saturated with pollutants after around six weeks.

In the event of algae problems or sick fish an algae control or first aid cartridge can be fitted in place of the usual filter cartridge.

BiOrbs are relatively small aquariums and for trouble free fish keeping it is vital that you do not exceed their carrying capacity by adding too many fish or fish which grow too large.
